David Dubery writes in approachable, lyrical, generally tonal style and like many other post modern composers his music would find masses of listeners if they knew about it, and not put off by the 'contemporary' tag. His work is not 'traditional' in style though as is is throughly modern in its own audience friendly way. The songs are charming and pastoral in general nature. Musicweb published a preview of the disc in which John France said ""The string quartet is a major work by any standards...based on the short extracts I have heard, this work is lining up to be a masterpiece. All the works by David Dubery that I have heard are approachable, subtle, not in any way patronising, and are always well-constructed and musically satisfying.
